V-Carve artifacts

I get some artefacts that I do not understand, is there a way to avoid them?
Carbide Create 774, Amana #RC-1148, cut depth is below tool height.
1
When cutting the following shape, an unwanted chunk is cut between the “r” and the “s”.
2
The fine line in the “r” does not start at zero.

The artefacts are visible in Carbide Create, file attached:

The very thin lines in the “R” problem has occurred before. If you add a point and open up the sharp end a tiny bit, it will cut it.

Thanks Tod,
I had just figured that out before reading your answer, a tenth of a millimetre is enough.
And I can work around the big chunk in the “rs” gap by adding microscopical rounded corners.to the “r” and “s” bottoms. Less than 0.1 mm diameter, easy to do in Illustrator.

I think these are CC software bugs, other sharp inner and outer corners cut great without workarounds.
Lesson learned: check the simulation even more intense
