V carve toolpath different with different objects selected

I have 2 objects that are adjacent and share one edge. When I select each object individually for a V carve toolpath the toolpath generates as expected. However, when I select them both for the V carve, the toolpath is very different and seems wrong.

I am seeking to understand, not trying to fix.

There is an implicit union which takes place for toolpaths.

You can use two separate toolpaths or slightly separate the objects or inset one or both slightly.
