Problem with vcarve in V8. So I have a program that I vcarve a union with a 60° bit. With V8, it just wont plunge cut the stars, it simply just drills a hole 2 times, then it goes back and cuts the stars When I hover over my tool path for that under the design screen, it tells me I don’t have a tool selected. When I double click into that tool path, it shows I have a #302 60° bit.
Upload your file?
Did you draw the stars or import them?
I had this SAME EXACT PROBLEM yesterday. Literally took me 3hrs+ to run a tray that I make that normally (used to) take(s) me 50 minutes total to run! I was so [EDIT vulgar word for upset removed] I couldn’t even see straight!
Please upload the file you are having difficulty with and we will walk through this with you.
Alright give me a few minutes to switch to my desktop.
Baseball Valet Tray (3-5-25).c2d (516 KB)
You’ll have to enable some of the tool paths, & see what it does, but I tried six ways of sunday to get that thing to v-carve like it used to, & ultimately I had to suffer through the time!
In what specific way do things not work?
The VCarve 13 toolpath which is enabled is fine:
Moving that to a new group “Verified” which is disabled and enabling VCarve 12:
we get:
which matches what Advanced V carving would have done in v7.
To get the same appearance as V carving simply requires that one set the Max Depth to “t” (or any value deeper than the tool would want to cut):
If you’ll let us know the specifics of your difficulty we will look deeper into them with you.
please enable Group One
enable group & specifically watch how carves the stars
** group 1 ** *******************
With that enabled I get:
Going back to the Design tab and deleting:
and moving:
back to the stock:
we get:
which seems reasonable to me — in what way should this be different?
I am referencing the time & machine movement. Create V7 NEVER used to take me triple the time to make this tray!!
Is this just the time estimate in Carbide Create?
Or the actual cutting time in Carbide Motion?
Specifically watch the first 3 tool paths! It NEVER use to take a put small hole in the stars previously before it carved them out, then move back & fourth between stitching & stars making it an 1.5hr cycle time just for that! NEVER!!
Oh no, that was the actual time it spent in carbide motion yesterday too! Look IDK what to tell you, but the V8 V-Carve operation [EDIT: Vulgarity deleted] compared to V7. (period)
v7 is available at:
the way the machine takes WAY WAY to many extra passes & time moving back & forth compared to how it was in V7 is LITERALLY night & day!
You see why does the V-Carve toolpath (specifically for the stars) go & put small holes in all the stars 1/2 a trillion times instead of just carving like it used to?? And it doesn’t matter weather I run the stars all together, or weather I group it with the stitching, it STILL DOES THE SAME DANG THING (& it never used to before). I don’t know what to tell you, but IT AIN"T RIGHT, & it NEVER EVER USED TO BE THIS WAY BEFORE.
