Vcarving problem

I’m hoping someone can help me. I’m new to this but have done about 20 vcarves in the last 5 or 6 weeks. Today I try to do another one and I can’t get the bit to penetrate the wood. Tried a 60 degree, 90 degree, Carbide Create, VcarvePro,
2 different files, made the flat depth as deep as 1 inch, no flat depth, used the wood to set my zeros and the bit zero to set them. Nothing doing. Can anyone think of something I’m missing. Thank you.

post the gcode file for a check ?

I would if I could but don’t have a clue how to do that. Thank you.

When you post a message, in the edit window among the icons there’s one with an up arrow, use that to upload your nc file

If you are on a pc just drag the file into the edit screen

Not sure what the edit screen is, but after about 15 tries and erasing everything and me carve files and gcodes in it seemed to work. Even force quit all programs. That machine was a hair’s breadth from the garbage. Would have been nice to know what I was doing wrong but I guess I’d rather have it working. Thx again all for trying to help but I guess it’s harder to help someone who’s having a hard time helping themself.

The edit screen is the screen that shows up when you create a new topic or after you create a post there is a pencil icon, edit, that allows you to edit your previous post maybe for spelling or to add something. For the edit you must be logged in

If your endmill was hovering over the piece rather than cutting into it, my guess was that you may have unintentionally selected “stock bottom” as the Z zero reference, but then actually zeroed on top of the stock. This is why I wanted to have a look at the gcode, where the Z zero reference shows.

Don’t hesitate to post again if you have issues, uploading the design file (c2d or vcarve) and gcode file (.nc) is often a way for us to pinpoint possible causes for the problem.
