Vectors acting crazy

I have a file for a plaque to cut out. Its a simple contour cutout, no pocketing or anything like that. It shows up purple so if I’m correct, thats an open vector. I boxed it in and clicked the join vectors button. When I make a tool path to cut outside, the lower half is showing the cut on the inside while the upper half is showing an outside cut. I can’t seem to get it to do a full cut all the way around the outside. Any thoughts?

Can you post your .c2d file?

I’m not really sure how.

Save your .c2d to somewhere you can easily find it then use the Upload button to post it.

Where did you get the vector from?

Open vectors need to be joined so as to be closed to work consistently as expected.

The guy i was supposed to be working with created the files according to designs we agreed upon. He sent them to me in dropbox . Not sure what software he used. I had to copy the file tat had all the shapes on it and rename it each time like you said. I’ve ran into 2 shapes now that have done this. The first one was corrected my mirroring the lower portion because it was an even shape. I don’t even know how I thought to try that. This one I’m on now has several places that are unable to be mirrored.

I’ve Boxed the whole shape and selected group vectors, tried to join them individually, etc. Can’t seem to figure it out.

Select all the geometry:

and use the Join Vectors command:

I tried that. Then when I go to create my contour tool path, it does the same thing. But I’m also not getting it to turn black. I just tried it again and everything connected except one spot. It is the only spot where the toolpath is showing on the inside even though it is set to outside.

This is what it looks like when set to OUTSIDE/RIGHT

If the file won’t close, then parts don’t match up.

Either draw in connecting geometry or post the file here or e-mail to support@carbide3d.com

I don’t know how to post the file. We’ve ran the program on his machine and everything came out fine, That’s why I’m so confused.

The reason this file won’t close is because the vectors don’t meet, but instead pass each other:

EDIT: See v6 file below.

When I open the file for the plaque closed, I get a box without the plaque.

My apologies, used the v7 beta.

Here’s a v6 file:
