Vee Carve dimples at the end of acute angle vectors

My applogise if this has been covered and resolve but I could not find a resolution in this forum. When using a Vee Carve tool other than 90 or 60 degree, I see these little dimples at the end of acute angle vectors.

When I change my Start Depth to .02", they disappear. I tried .01" but they were still there.

But then again, maybe not. I just tried to repeat the test and it failed. I can keep the Start Depth at .02" and sand it off but it sure seems like there should be a work around.

Different bits will cut in small/narrow paths differently. When you changed the depth of cut for the bit you were using it completed more of the path. You see more tool paths in blue further away from the tip/point and closer to the point there is only one blue tool path. As the bit gets closer to the point it raises and makes less of a cut to allow for the taper to the point both in width and depth. I think the dimples you are talking about were made towards the end of the carving to make a sharper cut on the point.

Another example is trying to cut a small radius say 1/8 inch with a 1/4 inch bit. The bit does not fit the radius cut and it will not cut that section.

Playing with different bits and depth of cut you can get the cut you are looking for. Make slight changes and look in the simulation as you do the changes to get the cut and look you like.

Than you Anthony, I’ll keep at it until I find that special sauce.

You are reaching the limits of the current previewing settings.

It may help to enable:

Thank you Will. I have it enabled but it could be that my graphics card just can’t handle it. This is an older Dell laptop not intended for CAD/CAM.

I think we quit using graphics cards for rendering due to compatibility issues.

Moreover, that wouldn’t change the quality of the rendering, just how quickly it was arrived at.
