VFD install questions, dust collection and ER16 nuts

I checked out a used 5 Pro for my brother, and was so impressed with how quiet the spindle was I went an ordered one for my Pro XL. It came in last week but only had the chance to open the box, since I was helping my brother move the aforementioned 5 Pro 4x4 and get it set up. (move went smoothly, I can relate in a separate post how we moved the base relatively easily. )
It looks like it was one where they packed at least the one accessory bag before they announced.

(or maybe I let the cat out of the bag

On to the questions before I install.
There did seem to be install instructions in the box (again maybe that is since it is from an early pack of version 2). The manual online is the version 1 manual from 2022. Not that the swap looks to be too challenging.

Should I update to the newer Carbide Motion first (get it running before pulling the router) or do that after I get the spindle running on the older version (running 566 I think right now)? (I usually try to change only one variable at a time)

What strategies for auto start on dust collection are folks using? With the router I have a Fein vacuum that senses current and would turn on. I don’t think that will work with the vfd . My first pass will probably be a mk 1 manual switch, but I did kind of like having it turn on automatically. Is there a way to pull a signal off the control board (perhaps reusing the bitrunner to start the vacuum)?

What is good source of quality ER16 collet nuts? It seems like it might be easier to just have dedicated nuts to collets.

Best to update, but so long as “VFD spindle” is an option it should work

Note you need EDIT: the right kind of ER-16 nuts. Agree having as many nuts as collets is a nice convenience.

For vacuum see:

For ER-16 collet nuts, I’ve found uxcell from Amazon to be acceptable. For collets, I’ve liked the Accusize sets I’ve gotten.

I went and checked the spindle, and it has an ER-16A nut on it not an ER-16M. It did have M19x1 thread size indicated.

The ER-16M nuts are castle type nuts, while the ER-16A (I think) are hex style.
Now it seems a lot of the ER-16A nuts are M22 threads while the ER-16M are the M19x1 threads. So I will need the ER-16M, but will need to buy a castle nut wrench…I think…

I will defer to folks who have access to the hardware in question.
