I’ve contacted support but they are not open and my dealings with support, although good, have been very slow. Can anyone point me in the right direction on wiring to double check? Pretty sure its the spindle but might as well check while I am dead in the water. I’m running a Shapeoko 5 Pro w/the Carbide VFD spindle kit
Since the spindle is a 3 phase motor, swapping a one pair of the three motor wires would reverse the spin. However, as i don’t own a spindle, let alone a C3d spindle, I don’t know how difficult that may be. And then there’s the whole matter of warranty voiding stuff.
Support said its the control board in the VFD control box and are supposed to send a replacement board “once they are back in stock”. Everything I have read on here tells me its the spindle wiring so I have my suspicions they are wrong. I am also waiting on the second front panel replacement which has been stuck in Los Angeles for a week. I purchased the CNC and spindle kit in October and have yet to create anything. Dead in the water and holidays approaching. I’m pretty close to packing this all up, sending it back and taking the hit on shipping ![]()
The boards came in yesterday so the replacement will go out today. (I just made someone in shipping promise me that)
I had the same issue. They had me change the board out, too. Didn’t fix it. They end up replacing the whole thing, spindle and controller and it was fixed.
Very happy to report Carbide sent the controller and spindle and they sent it quickly to Canada. Received within a few days. Very impressed! Both were just replaced and the spindle is now operating properly. I just need to revisit my speeds/feeds again in Carbide Create since I played around with them a lot. My files were all versioned so it shouldn’t be too bad. Thank you to the carbide employees on the forum and in the support emails!
