VFD spindle speed

My new VFD spindle controller sets the spindle to 24.000, but the project only should let the spindle run with 18.000.

What should I do to let the spindle run as been told?

Some of the vfd owners will chime in.

But in the meantime check that you are using the Shapeoko post processor and go into the tool path and check what the tool is set for RPM.

In the current Carbide Create 764 there is a bug that after you push start the spindle starts up and you get a dialogue stating to set the speed to 24,000 RPM. If the tool is set for 18,000 RPM go ahead and hit the Resume and see if the spindle slows down to 18,000 before starting the cut. Hit the pause button if the spindle does not slow down before cutting to save material.

Were updated GRBL firmware settings sent to the Shapeoko controller by selecting the VFD spindle option? Not sure which version of Carbide Motion you’re using, but if you let us know we can point you in the right direction to check and make sure the correct settings are applied to the machine.

Guy, Winston: I found the glitch: when setting up a new machine the software asks in the middle somwhere what spindle to use. When the router spindle is active, the setting “ask for router speed” or so is active, when instead the VFD spindle is choosen that mark cannot be activated, it is greyed out. User has to go back to the router spindle, save it with the above mentioned option deactivated, that stays then deactivated when in the next step the VFD-spindle is choosen.

Now it works fine, the pre-set spindle speed is used for the project.

Thanks!
