Waste board / slats

William, a while ago you posted the project for slats for the waste board, thank you btw!

Now I saw that in that project the outer edge is designed as a pocket around the outer edge of a rectangle. It was my impression so far that such a pocket always is drawn inside a rectangle, with outer limits of that rectangle being the outer limit of the pocket.

Now the slat project does not have an outer edge for the pocket. How come?

Do you mean:

That was further discussed at:

which has the slat geometry, plus offset, and is cut as a pocket:

yes, I mean that piece. Understood the offset thing. Thanks! How do I get tabs?

There is a tool for this in Carbide Create:

https://carbide3d.com/hub/courses/create/tabs/

I know that  of course. But how to get them into the pocket?

Select the inner geometry:

Edit Tabs

Then limit the depth of the pocket:

so you add a contour toolpath? first a pocket toolpath to reduce friction, less deep than the stock, and additionally a contour toolpath now with tabs?

tried it that way, and it worked. TY!!!
