Don’t get me wrong, onboard/support has been fine, just not the experience I expected.
Sharing as cautionary tale for others. Now because I come from a DIY background (like the old ANET A8 3d printers), it doesn’t bother me to take it apart and put it back together (assuming it runs fine after).
Honestly, I know way more about the gantry now than I ever expected. (Guess they didn’t need to ship mine assembled after all. (Shapeoko 5 Pro 4x2 with 65mm spindle and gas strut)
Again, Shapeoko Onboard has been great - just got off the phone with Fleming. 2 points to share after that phone conversation:
Don’t ever take the machine apart to the level in my picture - you can make more damage than good inadvertantly (yup, I did that too - not only did I have screws loose, I managed to lose a couple bearings when trying to put the linear blocks back on the rails).
Let Support help, they do not build these for the DIY community to take apart like I did. They are more than willing to help and in my case, I’m getting new parts in the next couple days (Thanks again @FlemingV )
I think a good point here is to go through the whole machine when assembling and check all screws, bolts, and nuts; even those parts that come pre-assembled.
