What is the max z height dimension on the standard Shapeoko?
Z travel is about 3in. You have to deduct the length of your endmill and retract. So if you have a 1 1/2in stock with an endmill of 1 1/4in and 1/4in travel you would be at the limit.

If you mean clearance; I’ve managed to machine objects as tall as 3.5" on a .75" supplemental waste-board. But you have to be very careful about how the machine approaches the object; so that things hanging off your carriage (e.g. Suckit Dust Boot Ears) don’t hit the object.
