Being this is supported now; where do I inject grease in the HDZ? I can’t see the points where it goes in. A picture would be great?
In the centre of each sliding block there is a M4 screw. You can remove that and inject grease there if required.
Center like in center front where I have to take off front blue place to get to it? The only screws in the sliding blocks visible are the screws holding it to the front blue plate and the screws that hold the reddish plastic pieces on the top and bottom.
Center, top. Don’t use much. You have to dismount the HDZ to gain access to the lower set.
I put a few drops of 3in1 in each bearing block when I built my HDZ. Nothing since.
EDIT: I also use some dry PTFE on the ball screw. DuPont and WD40 offer this.
I didn’t add anything assembling it and it was making “noise” after a 4 hour cut yesterday. I though I’d show it some TLC.
I’m expecting my HDZ to arrive Monday. Do I need to inject grease into it prior to installing it?
Check and see what Luke recommends.
My bearings on my self made HDZ arrived with zerk fittings so I guessed some sort of lube would be appropriate. I did not have any light grease on hand so opted for 3in1 instead. I did not install the zerk’s, just a plug.
@ispot no, it’s ready to go.
@Luke MrBeaver, Do I need to lubricate my HDZ prior to installing it? Or, does it come from Carbide pre-greased?
For those that experience noise or rough spots - the install instructions shoukd have a rail alignment procedure. Might be worth looking into
