Why is there a ridge around the outer edge of my 3D images?

I’ve been putting 3D images inside vector and they are carving out beautifully but there is always a little “ridge” around the outside edge where my container vector surrounds the 3D rather than being nice and flat like a pocket. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to go back and do a 2D pocket just up to the end of the ridge to get rid of it? Hope that I’m asking this clearly…

You need to either model the desired shape in full, or inset the perimeter a bit because 3D toolpaths are calculated to the center of the tool.
