Workflow w/o code

I’m creating CC documents with contain up to 8 layers of tool paths, each requiring its own separate file for use in CM. I do not have CC Pro and miss the good old days where I could save the individual files to code. All this convenience, plus CC running on Mac, was a factor in buying a Nomad to begin with. So how do I efficiently accommodate this?

I’m currently, within CC, activating only a specific layer then saving as a separate CC file. But this gives me files over 5 Mb in size versus, say, 400 kb. So for 8 layers I’m consuming 40 Mb of space versus 3 Mb. This is just for one project.

It appears I can save the gcode from a CC file if I’m currently plugged in to the Nomad with the Nomad on. This is inconvenient since I do the programming aspects in my office, not the shop.

I remember the resentment when the policy was introduced awhile ago. I avoided it then by sticking with legacy versions of CC and CM but other factors have induced me to upgrade. Like the feature where you can actually set the spindle rotation to zero.

Will the “Extract G-Code” web page help? (Extract GCode from Carbide Create V7)
You would need to enable the toolpaths one at a time, save the file, then extract the g-code.
But it would only need one .c2d file, and your g-code will be much smaller. i.e. only what you need.

Thanks Tod! Only slightly less convenient than directly from CC but way better than bloat. My test file went from 2.5 Mb to 165 kb. The savings will be far greater when working with my entire project versus a test section.

Thanks for pointing this out, a good compromise by Carbide. Have added the link to my favorites bar.

That link lands you at a non-functioning login page .

That is a very useful tidbit

Try going to my.carbide3d.com first & logging in

The link works for me, maybe you need to be logged in first? I’ve now used it several times, it’s lightening fast and returns nc files with the same name as the input file, no fiddling around.

Must be something on my account. Yes/No ?

I go to my.carbide3d.com. Select the login button, which brings me to this.

The go to Community button does not do anything.

I am already logged in the Community.

I just tried logging in through the “Shopping” button, navigated to the community and retried the link.

I always end up the the page above using the link.

hmmm …

I just logged out of the web site. ? I don’t know when I last logged out of it.
Retried, same thing.

I am going to log out of the web site and let some timers expire.

Nope. I logged out of all devices that I have (2 pc’s and cell phone).

@WillAdams - Any suggestions ? Help line ? Thanks

This requires that your account, in addition to being logged in is also a member of the “Owners” group — this only happens automatically when you purchase a machine using the same e-mail address as is used for the Community Login.

Ok. I remember some disconnect in that area.
I will email support to get it straightened out.

Thanks !

Thanks, I’m having the same issue.

Rob found and fixed an issue in the website.
All good now.
Thanks !
