I’ve been using my machine for the last few years now without any axis problems until now. Out of the blue, while trying to initialize the machine, the Y Axis makes a loud rumbling noise while moving and then the X axis locks up and won’t move at all (I can’t even move the X axis manually) Has this happened to anyone else? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Possible causes:
- lack of lubrication: CNC Machine Maintenance
- an issue with the wiring or connectors — please always check them per: Machine operating checklist
- something mechanically interfering
- an issue with a pulley
- an issue with a belt

Crisis averted! Turns out it WAS lack of lubrication. Took it apart and cleaned and oiled everything. Initializes like a champ! Thank you for your input.
