X-axis issue resulting in float of cutting

I’m experiencing an issue with the X-axis, where the carving will spontaneously float to the left/right of actual. See attached image.

I’ve replaced my X-axis belt, tightened V wheels, tightened pulley set screws for stepper motor, checked wiring connections and visually inspected the controller board. No obvious issues. I have a ticket opened with Carbide, but curious if there is any community feedback.

Even though you checked the pulley set screws, I would…go back and check them again. They could be tight but not aligned correctly. Were you able to visually confirm that one of the two set screws is aligned with the X stepper motor shaft’s flat ?

When it comes to set screws, the only test I trust to know if the motor shaft slipped or not, is to draw a line across the pulley and shaft with a marker, run your job, and when you have this problem again go and inspect the pulley/shaft alignment: if the pulley marks and shaft marks do not align anymore…then you know.

It looks like, embarrassingly, this may have been caused by a dull bit.
