So I’ve ran into an issue with my x-axis slipping. I’ve ordered some more vactra oil because I cant find any locally. But I have a couple projects that need to be done asap and I was just wondering if there was a different brand or type of oil I could use in the mean time until it arrives? Thanks
If you have some on the way, It wouldn’t bother me if I used some straight 30 weight motor oil.
However, Have you double checked the pulleys on the stepper motors? Unless you’re cutting something really nasty, causing the linear bearings to full of crud, I don’t see where way oil is going to solve the problem.

Thank you for the reply. I checked the pulleys yesterday and they seemed fine. Took your advice and so far its working great. I’ve been really busy with orders lately and have neglected to clean my machine daily like I normally do and the rails were pretty dirty. I think this solved my issue.
Here is something to do to help visualize if you have a pulley issue.
