Y motor/jack screw

The y motor sounds like it’s straining especially when traveling in reverse. The machine is new, I’ve been operating it since July but I don’t recall the motor sounding this way. I’ve lived the bearings and jack screw but t sounds off to me. Thoughts?

What kind of Shapeoko is it. For SO3/4 check the set screw on the motor pulley. There are 2 and one is over a flat. Also on SO3/4 check your belt tension. If you have an SO4 Pro/SO5 lube your ball screws and bearings. If they become dry you will have erratic movement. On some SO5 the ball screw bearings can become loose and cause binding. Check all nuts and bolts on your machine to see if things are all tight. Also check that the machine is still square.

As @gdon_2003 said check everything. I check my machine every three weeks. Clean, lube, tighten everything.

If you put off maintenance, it will schedule it for you.

Good luck
