Hi all ,
does any one know the z axis ball screw pitch
grok reports for the shapeoko 5 pro x and y pitch is 20 mm per rev
and z is 10mm per rev. x and y calculate out ok . z seem off @ 10 mm per rev
If you run the Setup Wizard:
then it should be configured correctly — if it is not, check in at support@carbide3d.com
Also note that pitch and lead are not necessarily the same, depending on the screw geometry.
I’m not sure if it’s a multi start thread or not but you could check it to verify. If it’s multi-start then the lead will be a multiple of the pitch…something like that anyway. YouTube should help ya out in showing how to determine and measure all that jazz.
I found the information in Specifications for the Shapeoko 5 pro literature 20mm pitch for x and y and 10mm for Z . Thank You
I am working on a project that requires Mm per Revolution to be calculated for turns ratio. not Carbide Motion. I find Y and X at 20mm is close But z axis at 10 mm is not close at all in my calculations. Figuring ratio’s for the ShapeOkO 5 pro is not normal I know. How many mm is one revolution of the screw in nut shell.
Do you have any metrology gear or a way to measure the distance that the z carriage has moved?
I’d probably just put a bit of blue sharpie on the ball screw, measure the height from the bed, then turn it once by hand and remeasure. I imagine that would get you very close to a reasonable estimate.
It’s 10mm per rotation
