Z axis going wrong way

Had a problem on my 4540 machine it was going ok in Candle, then for some reason the Z axis started going the wrong direction .?
Tried changing the $ codes, had all sorts of problems. Could get the Z to go the right direction, but the others went all different directions.
Reset the controller, still same problem.
Just about to order another controller as I thought it may have gone west on me.
Then thought I would just check all the $ codes.
Although I had the correct orientation of the Z probe, I found that from $2 to $6 were not the same as the original code.
Haven’t a clue what went wrong here, but inserted the correct codes again, from the original settings, and bingo all went ok….
So if you have the same problems, then do check if all the $ codes are correct.

On a C3D machine when the Z goes the wrong way it is a configuration issue. The Z-Plus stepper motor run the opposite way as an HDZ/BeltZ. So when Carbide Motion sends the configuration you pick machine type and the Z type. This configures Carbide Motion to send the Z motors the right direction and sets the jogging maximums.

Since I do not what a 4540 machine is is there a configuration you send with your gcode sender? This would seem to be the answer if it were a C3D machine.

We can’t assist with machines which were not made/sold by Carbide 3D — you will need to contact the folks who made/sold your machine for assistance with it.

We can assist with your using Carbide Create Pro with your machine — please create a separate thread in the appropriate area for any such difficulties.
