When initializing this morning, the z axis was totally stuck and wouldnt move. I could hear the motor trying, but was just stuck in place. I tried some dry lube, cleaning the rails, cleaning the screw…and when I tried initializing again, it moved up and was then stuck just under the limit and shuttering (and still not “homing” and I received an error message through motion).
I cleaned the rails more, then manually nudged it a little and it finished the initilaizing process. I loaded my file, zero’d, and all was seemingly ok. I kept an eye on the carve and this is where I immediately shut down the operation. Can anyone point me in the right direction? All wiring is fine, it seems like its a movement/mechanical issue, rather than electric.
Thanks-
Ken
Have you lubricated the rails/linear blocks?
I lubricated (with dry lube) the following:
The screw, and both rails shown in picture. It seemed to move better afterwards, but still jammed up andhad the bad path in the previous picture shown.
I took the entire router assembly/rails apart to try and lube and clean it. It seemed to work a few times up and down when I was jogging it to really spread the lube out, but it began stopping short of the limit at the top of the Z. It is also very, very clunky more so on the way up. I have a video, but can not attach it here. I can email this if anyone has any input or suggestions on where to go next?
-This machine is my only source of income right now, so it is important…hence all of my questions. Thank you for the time, patience and help, as always.
