Z homing failure

My Z axis homing switch is lighting up when i pass a screwdriver next to it, also when its raising the upper carriage. The carriage wants to keep going up and pushes up against the Z sensor as if its in the way. This is happening when i try to initialize the machine. Entering G28.3 in the MDI setting allows me to move along the X, Y, Z Axis but i cant get passed the machine initializing step step. Everything ran fine last night, it was really cold in the garage this morning but thats all that has changed in the garage. I tried it again a minute ago its much warmer and it still crashes out at the top Z sensor. Anyone else have this issue. Shapeoko pro xxl thats less than 6 months old.

Power up and connect to the machine and go to Settings | Debug — test all the homing switches — does each signal as the correct axis under Active Inputs?

Let us know at support@carbide3d.com and we’ll work out how to handle this.

Have a check of all your Z axis wiring connections. You might want to run the setup again and select your correct Z axis and see if the problem goes away. Some folks have had the setup change for no apparent reason even though the machine was running fine before.

Checked all axis’ on the debug screen, the Z axis is the only one that doesnt light up green, also at the control board the Z axis doesnt light up blue, yet the sensors indicator lights up and Z+ just tries to keep moving up.
So if it was to attempt to run setup again do i uninstall my program completely first or will it give me the option to reinstall again over itself. Thanks for the help thus far.

If the Z-axis homing switch doesn’t light or indicate as expected, then there is a problem with the switch, the wiring, or the controller — if your machine is in warranty, let us know at support@carbide3d.com

If out of warranty, purchase a replacement switch and if need be controller at:

(be sure to pick the right machine type/size and so forth)

My Shapeoko Pro XXl was purchased in April of this year. Are these parts under warranty?

Yes:

You were right after i switched the sensors the Z axis worked its the sensor itself. Is that warrantied?

Yes, the switches are covered by the warranty, please check in w/ the folks at support@carbide3d.com

@AWGordon

Did you not have a spare shipped with your machine?
