I am noticing that the set z zero is not being retained after powering off/on my Shapeoko XXL. X and Y are retained. Not sure if this is as designed and I’m just noticing it more since I have been doing more “batch” work.
Basically, at the end of the day I shut down the machine. The following day I power it up to run more of the same repeat jobs I did the previous day and I always have to reset Z. When I keep the power on and run repeat jobs for the remainder of the day I never have to reset Z.
Is there a way for this to be retained between power cycles like X and Y?
Is your Z axis falling when the power is off? This seems to be common when steppers are not powered. Mine doesn’t move, but with a very little bit of force I can move it.
In the most recent versions of CM when you power off the Z is not remembered. However if you leave the tool in the router after initialization and do a change tool the tool is carried over to the BitSetter and the Z is remembered. There have been several posts here on the forum about. I think the last Z position is kept in a file inside CM so technically the Z is not lost but a trip to the BitSetter makes CM recall the last set Z position. That trip can be triggered by a tool change in the software interface.
