Z Zero not taking

I have had a problem several times that I have set my z zero just to hit start job and have the bit plung into my work and ruin it. Does anyone know why or also have this issue? Carbide 3D?

are you sure that it is the zero not taking, and not a mismatch between where you set the zero and where you told carbide create you were going to set the zero?

Also, if you have a bitsetter, did you by chance change the tool without using the change tool button in the GUI? That’s another place where this can go wrong, since the bitsetter will adjust your Z based on the difference in length of the tool in the current measurement and the previous one… and if you change your tool without it measuring it… the Z will be adjusted even though you thought you just set it

No I initilize the machine then I load the file. I then set the zero for my Z (my x and y do not change) I then start the job which tells me to place to correct bit and then it goes to the bit setter. On this last time tonight I even checked it 3 times before starting because it did it to me yesterday and ruined a project. Each time it showed z at 000 and the tip on the bit was touching the top of the stock ( I use the paper method)

If you continue to have difficulties, please send us a .c2d file, step-by-step notes on how you are securing your stock and setting zero relative to it and managing all tool changes, and a photo showing an attempt at cutting still in place on the machine to support@carbide3d.com and we will do our best to work through this w/ you.
