When I was assembling my Shapeoko XL the part in the photo was loose. I tightened it after aligning the hole with the the lead screw.
What is the purpose of this part ? Is it for assembly of the ZPlus ?

it’s there to prevent the carriage from going down too far and sliding off the rails
