Adding a Laser to Shapeoko XXL

Good Morning,

We recently purchased a Shapeoko XXL for our school district (HS), and are intrigued by the idea of adding a laser engraver to the system. Before moving forward, our big questions are:

  1. Who has done this?
  2. Does Carbide Create work with this idea?
  3. What are the major limitations?

We are perfectly fine with just the Shapeoko itself, but due to funds we need to be creative! Thanks for everyone’s support.

Folks have done it, Carbide Create should be usable for it since it sends the spindle on commands for the Nomad, there are some kits, and the community has some notes on it at: https://wiki.shapeoko.com/index.php/Laser_Cutter
