Well, ive got a new in the box spindle kit water cooled. Comes with water pump, water resivior, 8 collets, tubing power connector to the VFD. VFD controller book, good specks. 80 mm bracket for the spindle Never been used. Spindle by GPenny, with ceramic bearings, top RPM. 24,000. Ceramic bearings are longer lasting and run cooler than steel and don’t suffer from eddy current pitting .
The story behind this is a dream of upgrading my SO 3 XL ( belt drive). Well after having illusions of gradure and inquiring as to putting a beast on the 3 xl I was informed that the weight of the spindle was likely too heavy so. Its up gor sale, never connected. You can add a gas strut (ex: Gas Strut for Shapeoko 5 Pro - Carbide 3D) to prevent slipping. With the added weight, you may need to be a bit more dainty / less aggressive with your toolpaths. You could test the performance by just adding some dead weight to your current setup & see how it handles it.
