2 days with the Nomad, Spindle appears dead

Hey All,

I got my Nomad 3 a couple of days ago. Looks like it had a rough transit as it arrived with a broken window on the side.

I fired up the test project and was concerned when the spindle stopped mid way through the project and weirdly the lights inside were dropping in and out.

I can’t get the spindle to spin at all now. Did I just get a lemon?

I must say I’m quite upset, been waiting a while to receive the machine and now it’s a paperweight. Being in Australia, can’t imagine getting this sorted will be easy due to logistics.

If the spindle is dead, any ideas how difficult it would be to replace?

We’ll get it taken care of. Shoot an email to support with a video of how it’s working now, and we’ll go from there.

Also, include some info about what you were cutting (material, speeds, feeds, etc.) so we can take a look and ensure it doesn’t happen again.

Hi Rob,

Cheers for that, I have sent an email through. Not sure about feeds and speeds as I was running the Gcode for the Starter project when it first happened. I did try to face an aluminium block after it but it appeared as though the spindle was starting and stopping so I just hit the stop button.

Sorry for the frustration, was just super excited to use it over the holidays.

Just an update, received a replacement board within a week! Absolutely amazing service.

Popped open the back and replaced the Spindle Control Board and she’s alive again!

Looking at the original board and noticed one of the capacitors looks blown. Might try and replace it and see if I can get it going to keep as a spare.
