220V Chiller Plug Options

Anyone know if I can swap out the plug to a different connector as long as it is using the C13? I was looking at using this power cord. It came with a standard plug, but I did get the 220V chiller.

Don’t want to mess anything up before I put it all together. Thanks in advance!

I think you have a 220v/240v only power for the chiller. European 220 v is standard and is not two 120vAC sine waves like in north America. European 220 is a 220v sine wave where North American is two 120vac sine waves. A lot of “Single Phase” are auto 120/220 switching or they have a manual switch on the power inlet. Since it ways 50/60HZ I think it would run on 220 European plugs but not on a 20AMP 120v outlet. It would need to be a 220v.

You should check with the OEM to see if it can run on North American 220v or only European/Asian 220vac power. Maybe one of the engineer types can chime in.

This was the chiller I got when I purchased my 80mm spindle from Carbide3D. So I assumed it can run on a 220 outlet. Maybe I need carbide to swap it out for me? :man_shrugging:

@Luke should be able to speak to that from personal experience, but my understanding is that what you describe is what is supposed to happen — I see you have a ticket in w/ support, so we’ll have someone competent verify this presently (and then I’ll try to make a note of it and remember it for the future).

We ship all CW3000’s with the same C13 cable.

You will either need to replace the cable with one for your local, or use an socket/plug adapter.

Thanks @Luke and @WillAdams . I got the new plugs and everything seems good. I haven’t set it up as a new machine in carbide motion yet, is that even necessary if going from the 65mm spindle to the 80mm spindle?

If you are going from a compact router to a spindle, you would need to. However, if from the 65mm air-cooled spindle, there should be no need to re-setup the machine.
