3 Phase Power VFD Setup

So my workshop has 3 phase power so the standard VFD kits for the S5 Pro just do not make since. With the release of the stand alone 80mm mount and the gas strut kit for the S5 Pro I can now plan out my setup. One thing the standard VFD kits come with are AC filters built into the enclosure. I do not know enough about VFDs and the like to know what I need for an AC filter on 3 phase power. Any advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Automationdirect would be my first stop for info. They have an “emi_mitigation” white paper for VFD’s. br

I’d say yes, it’s still worth installing a filter if you have space.

You can try without a filter, but most of these cheap VFDs don’t have much in the way of active input or PFC. The HuanYang (common brand with spindles) are the same part for single and three phase in many cases, the only difference being that when three phases are connected the rectifier is getting more frequent pulses thanks to the phase shifts so the current spikes are smaller and the input is slightly less noisy from generating the internal DC power.

Something like this is probably good
