I have been asked if it is possible to transfer a design which was created in software for a 3D printer, into Carbide Create. The questioner wants to etch a design onto a flat metal surface (I think!). I have the free version of Carbide Create (Build 813). Can anyone within the community throw some light on this? Is it even possible?
You will need to export into a format which Carbide Create supports:
- DXF
- SVG
- pixel image (which would then need to be traced or re-drawn)
Or, get Pro and use an STL.
Or, import the STL into a tool such as OpenSCAD and slice it at a thickness which captures the desired design and export as an SVG which can then be imported.
