3D Finishing tool paths are grossly under calculated in CC Pro and CM

Created a finishing tool path for a 3D cracker tray 12"x12"x1.5 "

In CC Pro V8, the finish tool path for the top was calculated at 220 minutes (~ 5 hours). The bit is a 0.015 BN with 200 IPM for both the plunge and feed rates. Stepover is set to .003 (10%). The actual carve time for that single tool path took over 10 hours.

I am running the finishing pass on the bottom of the tray now with the same settings. It calculated 228 minuntes but has now been running for almost 3 hours and is only 38% complete.

Is this a known issue with finishing tool paths? Why is there such a larger discrepancy between the calculated time and the actual carve time?

Kind Regards,
Bryan M.

The estimated value in Create does not account for the acceleration of the machine. We’ve got a simple multiplier in there, but if you have a part with a lot of little bumps or direction changes, the estimated values will deviate more from reality.
