3D Printable Nomad 3 Indicator Arm Mount

I just purchased the SMW Fixture Tooling Plate for my Nomad, and to install it accurately I obviously need to use an indicator to make sure its square to the machine, so I’ve designed this indicator bracket.

It attaches to the left side of the spindle using the 2 M4 threaded holes, and uses a M5 threaded insert (from McMaster-Carr) to hold the arm.

The link to the fusion360 file can be found here, so if you want to modify it or mirror it, feel free (its meant to be 3D printed)

Heres a screenshot of it in Fusion. The cylinder/bore/barrel is for the insert, so that the arm threads in pointed downwards to maximize the length of the indicator arm, as its pretty short.

i might re-design the mount to use a heatset insert because honestly the screw in one sucks to install. but thats what i have on hand.

I adjusted the design (should propogate to the fusion link)

now it works with a M5 heat set threaded insert (McMaster Part: 94180A363 Tapered Heat-Set Inserts for Plastic)

added benefit, is that its now symmetrical, so that you can use it on either side of the Nomad’s spindle.
