3D relief using offset vector for profile shell

I’m trying to learn my around 3D carving with my Shapeoko 3. This was a case where I had a picture I loved and the format required a narrow aspect ratio. I decided to do it with a profile pocket using a vector of the silhouette and offset vector. I could have done better with the cleanup on the base of the relief.

Very creative way to do the portrait. Nice work. How did you create the image? Was it a photo? What did you do to convert it to a 3d image? You got a lot of detail in the face.

This is our beautiful granddaughter Lillian. I used Sculptok to eliminate the background and create the height map, Inkscape to create a clean silhouette vector in svg and along with the height map uploaded as png CCPro did the rest. One benefit of the contoured pocket is the reduction in carving time vs a rectangular format with a lot of background. I used an IDC 6 deg. tapered 1/16" ball with .10" stepover. In hindsight I should have used the 1/32".
