Hi, I just got my 3xxl from a friend and trying to set it up. while trying to initialize the machine, I encountered a HM009 error. tried to follow the troubleshoot guide and noticed that the x-axis switch was not lighting up even if it’s detected on the computer. (everything is leveled and squared). should I replace it? Or is there something I am not doing? thanks!
Welcome, if the switch is not illuminating yet shows activated in CM it needs to be replaced.

Likely needs replaced if it does not light up with a metal object next to it. You can open CM and connect but do not initialize. You can go to debug and see the status of each switch and sensor. Put a metal object like a wrench next to the switch and see if the state changes. If the state changes the switch is working as far as the controller is concerned. If it does not sense the wrench/metal object then it is bad. Often the switches need to be adjusted closer to the trigger point. You can adjust the switch closer and see if it is triggered. The good news is the SO3 homing switches are relatively inexpensive and easy to replace. Since the machine was moved double check the connectors and make sure no pins have backed out.

Yes sir, I did placed a metal next to the switches and the bullets on the x,y, and z on the computer sensed it. only the little red light on the x-switch is not turning on unlike the other two switches. I’ll try to adjust the switch closer and double check on the connections, thanks for the tips!
Before replacing the switch, I would check the X-axis homing switch and wiring first. Since the machine is detected but the switch is not lighting up, make sure the connector is fully seated and check the cable for any loose or damaged connection. I would also manually trigger the switch and see if Carbide Motion detects the change. If it still does not respond, then the switch itself may be faulty and worth replacing.

On top of checking the wiring and manually activating the switch (it sounds like you have the updated proximity switches?), you can also troubleshoot by swapping switch connectors at the board and manually test the switch - this would confirm that it is the switch/wiring of the X-axis.
