Hi all, just wondered if anyone has tried using a 4mm ball end mill for a final finishing pass on aluminium that has curved geometry? I’ve ordered a couple and am planning to try it…

Yes, depends on the surface you’re trying to mill. With a small enough stepover and enough time it can look quite nice, but only ends up using a small portion of the tip of the tool, so they wear kind of fast. I did the standard “nomad head” model with one a long time ago, and it came out ok. Would have been easier to just apply a little sandpaper and handwork in that case for me though!
