5 pro not initializing properly

i bought the new rails for my 5 pr so i could work on the vertical axis as well. I also needed to move the x-axis to the forward position to allow for the cutter to hang over the front of the bed. I turned on the machine and all worked fine. initialized the machine and all was fine. jogged the machine and all is fine. then was going to ensure the machine was trammed and square so i was going to set up all axis at zero. I noticed (my mistake) that now bit zero was not in the place that the machine expected, so the fix is set up new machine per website (so also downloaded 667 to be current). I started the process, initialized the machine, picked pro 4X2 and this is were things went wrong. the machine sounded extremely loud as it was homing. and even thought the limiter lights both went on, the machine did not stop trying to home in y. I checked the machine is square the rails are properly in, the spacing of the rails are equal, all axis are smooth and quite if move manually. any thoughts / help would be appreciated

The only thing I can recommend is start your troubleshooting over, like the machine has never run before. Zero out your assumptions and troubleshooting. I have solved a lot of complex problems this way.

I had a weird issue when I first got mine, it intermittently stopped recognizing the Y limit switch. It ended up being a loose wire that was not crimped well inside the connector, I found it by lightly pulling on each wire.

Please test both Y-axis homing switches — does each signal as the correct switch?

great suggestion, just tested all switches light up properly and match in debug screen

did check all of the connections with a firm pull and push all are connected securely

tried to also trip the y homing switches with metal during the initialization step. the y-axis stops right away, but the machine continues to have a very loud growling sound which i can not figure out where it is coming from so i would say the switches are operational and stopping movement

UPDATE- the x-axis was stuck in the home position. i moved it manually and seems to be fine now. thank you for the help and sorry was not as thorough from the start

It would be good for you to know why the X axis was stuck. No clue here.

When I received mine new, I had a similar issue.

The coupler between the motor and the ballscrew was loose, and had a lot of play/slippage.

I recommend checking all of them…
