After buying the Shapeoko 5 XL and 65mm Spindle kit for my Christmas, 2024, I have made a lot of wood projects and love this machine. Deciding I had enough experience to handle something more difficult, I decided to try a more difficult project. So I did! Five months later, I have completed it. Indeed, with the case, the 13 gear all brass clock weighs exactly 50 pounds. Runs by a 12V DC motor, it stands 31-1/2" tall. The gears are made out of 3/16" brass. All of the metal cuts were made with a Solid Carbide, Zinc Coated, 1/8" Dia X 1/4" Up-Cut bit. I broke a couple before I finally found a speed and feed that worked for all of the cuts, including the gear teeth. DOP was 0.100mm, Plunge Rate 15.0mm, Feed Rate was 500mm running at 18,00RPM. Here is the link to the YouTube Video. Hope you enjoy it.
