I am setting up a new 5 Pro with the 65mm spindle. The assembly videos say there are 3 sets of holes on the HDZ - lower set for router, middle for 65mm spindle and top set for new 80mm spindle. My HDZ shipped pre-assembled in the lowest holes.
I have the 65mm spindle.
Should I move the bracket up to the middle holes?
If I move it, do I need to ensure it’s plum and square? How?
Is there any guidance on how high or low to place the spindle before tightening it in the bracket? Everything I’ve been able to find so far shows replacing an existing router (“make it about the same height”), but doesn’t account for the three different mounting holes on the HDZ.
One process is to install the shortest tool you plan to use, then position the VFD so that it will just touch the surface of the aluminum Hybrid T-tracks.
Thanks Will. ‘Use the shortest bit’ to set height helps. But, there is nothing about moving the mounting holes that are referenced in the 5 Pro assembly video. Should I move the mount up one set from where it shipped?
Thanks to Diego with support. Got back to my e-mail within a couple hours with the following answer - huge help:
Hi Dave,
You are correct, you will need to loosen the 4 screws holding the spindle brackets up to the next set so that your VFD spindle is located at in the proper position. The holes should be aligned so that you shouldn’t have to worry about the brackets being squared but it never hurts to check with a level.
