Arguably, one would want to hold those sentiments for the living veterans until 11 November.

Memorial Day, (originally known as Decoration Day) is for honoring and mourning the U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces — if you truly want to thank a Veteran, find a cemetery which needs assistance in cleaning up and honoring the graves of veterans, or attend a ceremony honoring the fallen.

Simplified shorthand for this:

  • Armed Forces Day — for folks currently serving in uniform
  • Veteran’s Day — for folks who have hung up their uniform
  • Memorial Day — for folks who died while wearing their uniform

Memorial day is about honoring those who gave their lives in the service of the USA. There is the Veterans Day to thank those who served and are still with us. However nothing wrong with honoring all who serve our great country yesterday, today and tomorrow. The old saying “All gave some and some gave all” is one way to sum up what our ancestors gave for our freedoms today. We know what they sacrificed for us my question is what have you sacrificed? Please ask yourself that question and answer yourself with an answer worthy of the sacrafice of the millions before us. :us:
