I have calibrated my steppers both x and y and they are within .001in accuracy indicated with a dial. However when running a program all of the desired dimensions are off by .020-.040in. Is this what i can expect in terms of accuracy? Or do i have a setting wrong in the software. I have done square contour tests and pocket trst with holes both are out. Like i said when i send the machine use the MDI its dead on.
Using what tool?
What does it cut to?
Have you adjusted the effective tool diameter to match?
Have you tried making a roughing cut, measuring that, then adjusting the finishing pass to yield the desired dimension?
1/8 whiteside endmill
2in square outside right cuts 1.966
2in square no offset cuts 1.853 (should be 1.875)
.310 diam hole cuts .335
So oversized holes and undersized squares
If the software cant account for tool diameter then it shouldnt be in the cnc game
After much testing found out to be a bad collet via run-out test with dial indicator run-out was .015 corrected to .003
