I tried to inlay 3mm cast acrylic into wood. Almost successful.
I did not put enough glue into the numbers, but the letters came out nice.
I will try to polish the acrylic tomorrow.

Seems like epoxy would be a lot easier and less finicky if you are coming for the plastic look.
My daughter suggested epoxy, but I have scrap acrylic to use. I have no experience with epoxy.
I assume you can machine off excess ?
Yes, I typically machine it close to the surface and then finish with a sander. It looks very dull at that point, but when you put clear coat on it then it shines right up.
The worst part of epoxy is waiting for it to dry.
I use MAS table top Pro and it can poured up to 1/4" deep. I use dyes like transtint and dyes for epoxy. I use transtint for black but several other colors like red are Alumnilite. On red a little goes a long way because too much and you get almost black. White works quite well from Alumnilite.
The text is .090" wide. Can you easily put Epoxy in small features like that ?
I normally see large area pours.
Sure. If you have a mixture with the right viscosity it will find any nook. You can use a razor knife to guide its path if it appears stuck.
This is a test process for Hockey pucks. Last year I engraved 38 pucks, painted and sealed.
My daughter and wife are now playing on a team, so that’s another 22 pucks at least.
Ugh …
I don’t think I have the patience for the epoxy route.
