Adding space around 3D projects to cut them out

Given an imported 3D design which has the auto-traced outline around it:

we need to offset by endmill diameter plus 10% plus the roughing clearance or so using the “Offset Vectors” command:

NOTE: The offset should be smaller than the diameter of the tool, or the tool will dive through to the bottom of the part!!!

I think Will meant, Endmill Radius + 10% + roughing offset. Which is just a guideline.

What you want is an offset just enough to allow the tool to become tangent with the edge of the 3D carve.
