I have all 3 of the Affinity products, Designer, Photo and Publisher. So I get their marketing email. Frankly I primarily use Designer but I bought the whole suite at 50% off.
So right now they have a 25% off sale. Affinity Designer is quite useful and at their prices it blows Adobe out of the water. You can design things for your Shapeoko. Now Carbide Create has come a long way but the Affinity beats what CC can do. So check it out if you want. There are a ton of tutorials on youtube and their own platform so it is relatively easy to learn and use. Plus you get free updates.
There is another thread that AutoDesk has a discount for Fusion 360. So seems like software summer sales are everywhere.
Personally I like Affinity Designer and have made quite a few things in it. I still use Inkscape (free) to turn images into svg and even use paint to convert some web graphics into jpg, gif or other bit map format so Inkscape can open it. I use a shotgun approach to what I do and each product dovetails into the next.
