Align / Space Tool in CC 764

Can someone explain how to use the Align / Space tool? I just noticed it for the first time this evening.

I asked this question a while back and Rob gave an answer Here. It makes sense.

Basically it takes the left/right-most or highest/lowest and either positions things relative to the stock or the last object selected so that there is equal space.

Vertical using last object (the rectangle):

The rearranging is clearer if all objects are the same size (same operation, circles only)

and aligned neatly:
