I’m using CC create Pro Build 778. I’m building a base for a five sided urn. This consists of putting three pentagons, that are of different sizes, and then centering them on the stock. If I center them to the stock, they are not evenly spaced. If I try to “Align to last selection (dotted line)”, they don’t align to the center pentagon. Its not very obvious on the screen that the spacing is off, but when I cut the wood, I can see the spacing is off. Any clues?
Yes, I’ve done some simple experiments with a circle and a square to make sure I’m selecting the two vectors in the correct order and then doing the “align to last selection”.
I’m able to correct the misalignment by knowing the correct spacing and using the “Move” command and entering the correct spacing in the “X” value.
The problem is, that is oriented so that it isn’t at the center of a circle, and the edges of it are determined by its geometric extent, not by the position of the center of the object itself.
Things which will help:
position as a hexagon, then convert to a pentagon
rotate the object
draw a surrounding circle
If you’ll upload your file and let us know what you are doing step-by-step we can walk through this with you.
Thanks for stating that “the edges are determined by it’s geometric extent”. That helped a ton. I also was able to create a hexagon, center it to the stock, then change it to five sides. Then double checked it with the circle of identical radius to make sure it was centered. Last night, I could not get it to “align to last selection”. This morning after a cup of coffee, its working fine. Maybe I should not get up at 3AM to play with it and instead sleep till 7AM. Many thanks.
