Aluminum Dust Collector

I’m sure you will have tons of questions that I can try to answer. I have zero experience with CNC machines but feel this is the best category.

My vague understanding is that our machine shop has a bar polisher that is cutting and polishing aluminum bars and the dust is being vacuumed up into a collector using water (maybe a coolant) and the end result is producing a wet sludge that has been causing some heat/reaction. as our team has been researching what is happening, we are finding there are several rabbit holes we are taking. My responsibility is to dispose the waste. They are doing is monitoring for temperature now and allowing the filter sock to dry out before adding it to a vented metal drum. and guess what - the drum is showing signs there is still a reaction going on. Anyone have any experience with this?? If we can get this to stop reacting, we can dispose it as non-hazardous. We’re trying to also find an appropriate container because I’m not comfortable with poly or metal, maybe a liner in the metal drum… Any advice is appreciated.
