Hi all. Another newbie to CNC here. I recently retired so as a new hobby I purchased a Shapaoko 4 Standard machine with a Bitsetter and Bitzero add ons. I’ve been going through all the Carbid 3d videos and have a very basic grasp on the concepts and machine operation. I also bought a moveable workbench that is solely dedicated to the CNC. I built a dust collection system and added a storage drawer and power bar. So far everything works great. Today I completed my first Advanced V Carve project… just a simple design but I’m happy with how it turned out. Looking forward to becoming a CNC “pro”
Jeff:
Welcome to the CNC world. I purchased a Shapeoko 3XL a few years ago. Complete novice but have made a few things. I noticed what looks like a Black & Decker Workmate leaning against the wall in the photo. I have a pair of the second generation of those. They have deteriorated in quality dramatically from the early versions.
Nice first project.
Bill
Thanks Bill Ya I bought that workmate in the mid 80’s… it’s bulletproof. I use it all the time its a handy thing to have around.
If you cannot Dodge it Ram it.
They say if you want to know the character of a man look at what his work bench has on it. Your shop looks very neat but withut saw dust covering everything you are not doing enough work.
I have been retired 11 years. A man needs a purpose in life and if a man does not have a purpose he dies. If you watch too much TV your mind turns to mush. So keep working for a happy and healthy life.
Put a rubber mat under the machine for more deadening I know plywood top and steel frame usually results in a resonating frequency or two. Jealous though it looks awesome.
Good idea Dean thats something I didnt think of. Thanks for the tip.
Looks like a nice loadout to me! You took the time and thought things out, I slapped my stuff together in a quick hurry and improvised. Definitely better to think it all out.
You’re gonna have a lot of fun with that, eventually everything will become “I can make that!”
Great set up! Have fun!
