Has anyone successfully rewired their system? I’ve got a 3XXL and the wiring is shot all over. I reached out to Carbide for a replacement harness, but they no longer support the 3.
I’m having multiple issues that seem to be electrical related. I have already cut off connectors and done a bunch of splicing, but the wiring really needs to be replaced.
Well there’s a lot of folks who are not fans of the connectors on the stepper motors so you might want to just replace those with a more reliable alternative, that would let you get a new set of connector shells & pins that you can crimp on.
I would avoid soldering anywhere in the moving parts of the harness, solder joints are brittle and will fail if flexed.
There used to be (and may still be) an upgrade kit to the non-contact homing sensors from the old microswitches, that might get some of your cabling done.
For the motors wiring, I might go to eBay or AliExpress and pick up some 2 pair control cable of a suitable gauge (if you’re in the US 16 or 18 AWG are commonly available) as this cable is generally rated for constant flexing. Crimp that into the new connectors to the motors and you’ve got a replacement back to the control box.
The connectors to the Carbide control board will probably be the biggest pain.
